Please note Our core philosophy is to let children feel like that group of kids wandering country backyards 50 years ago: autonomous, tired, muddy, wet, dirty, ecstatic and happy from the woods and wild. We are acutely aware of full and real hazards of the out of doors and social dynamics after years of working in environmental education. We try to move away from the highly structured and limiting tolerances of conventional environmental education while keeping kids truly safe but not encapsulated from, or phobic of nature. We are deep patriots to the value of offering guided yet very free and transparent experiences for kids. We believe it is okay to be thirsty at times, cold at times, and wet at times. It builds empathy and care for the gifts of life. It fosters adventure and sincere accomplishment. We also believe it is critical to feel supported and cared for as they truly explore their passion and responsibility. And through a healthy life immersed in nature, they test the limits and great potential of the often untapped physical and emotional resiliency they possess.

For 2008 we offer separate camps for students entering these specific age levels.
Lil' Possums Ages 4-5 The name says it all! Lil' Possums camps are a half day to give them the experience in the natural world while having a warm and sheltered base camp to go back to. We often bring in safe pet animals like gentle bunnies and the right reptiles to help the develop a close relationship with nature.
Coyote Rangers Ages 6-8 Coyote Ranges are there for adventure. We use storytelling telling, movement arts and nature exploration to foster the natural questions they have about the world.
Otter Players Ages 8-10 Otter Players explore a little more and a little further! They are often out and about the different greenspaces in the city with occasional BERRY picking trips to local farms.
Trekkers Ages 10-13 Otter Players explore a little more and a little further! They are often out and about the different greenspaces in the city with occasional BERRY picking trips to local farms and MORE!
TrackersRITES Ages 13-18 TrackersRITES says it all in the name! Our instructors ALWAYS take care to RESPECT the personal and diverse beliefs of the families and young people we work with.
Base, Mobile and Overnight TrackersNW camps are a mix of Base, Mobile and Overnights. For Base Camps students come and remain on site for the day. For Mobile Camps they adventure abroad and return to base camp later that day. For Overnights students pitch camp in the experienced care of TrackersNW Staff.
