Raccoon Week: Uncovering the Masked Bandit

Picking BerriesThe Raccoon: This resourceful expert lives her life everyday amidst the bustle of the human world, taking what she needs, from what others no longer do! Learn what her skills and city'tude has to teach us about city safety. Plus, tell stories of her escapades, and follow her trail, by bike, foot, and TrackersVAN, discovering her hidden places and secrets right where we never expected.

@ The Scout Pit: Bike Ninja

This week we discover what an awesome tool a bike is for staying active and healthy. Bikes gets families and campers out in nature and out of doors. We practice a "TrackersBIKE safety code" while learning how to stay aware and take care while riding. Older campers go on "Bike Bandit Raids" with the consent of participating local businesses and community members. We travel along the Spring Water Corridor (no cars) and like a raccoon, experience the wonders of healthy urban foraging.

@ The Aquatics Park: Rock Ninja

This week we CLIMB on The Aquatics Park Climbing Wall and train Forest Martial Arts (a blend of animal movement, kicks, jumps, leaps, and self defense) and Wilderness Survival Skills. Learn how birds tell you where the sneaking animals are in the woods, track people and wildlife, practice the art of camouflage and learn super awesome kung fu. Both Forest Ninja camps include a self defense class for kids. Through a series of awareness games, exploration and training, we learn self defense, discipline, camouflage, the art of stillness, and other nature awareness skills. We also practice ancient ninja arts such as martial arts and make and wear our invisible ninja outfits!

@ Both Locations

All this, plus with the help of special guest instructors, every camper learns and practices our SHIFT: Kids Self-Defense, a fun and empowering learning experience designed to teach kids about staying safe everywhere they go!

Age Ranges

For 2008 we offer separate camps for students entering these specific ages.

Lil' Possums Ages 4-5 The name says it all! Lil' Possums camps are a half day to give them the experience in the natural world while having a warm and sheltered base camp to go back to. We often bring in safe pet animals like gentle bunnies and the right reptiles to help the develop a close relationship with nature.

Coyote Rangers Ages 6-8 Coyote Ranges are there for adventure. We use storytelling telling, movement arts and nature exploration to foster the natural questions they have about the world.

Otter Players Ages 8-10 Otter Players explore a little more and a little further! They are often out and about the different greenspaces in the city with occasional BERRY picking trips to local farms.

Trekkers Ages 10-13 Otter Players explore a little more and a little further! They are often out and about the different greenspaces in the city with occasional BERRY picking trips to local farms and MORE!

TrackersRITES Ages 13-18 TrackersRITES says it all in the name!
