Workshops with Urban Scout and Friends
Our friend, our brother, tirelessly walking the streets of Portland to spread his word of how the world MUST CHANGE in order to survive. Urban Scout is many things: the unofficial mayor of primitive portland, punk rock star and icon, and blog maven, but most of all, Urban Scout is a hero to thousands. TrackersNW is proud to help and host Urban Scout in his efforts to save the world (or a select few who will carry on in a Mad Max like post-apocalyptic future).
Urban Scout’s Rewilding “Survival Basics"
Urban Scout’s Rewiding "Survival Basics" is a class held for three Sundays every month, taught by local celebrity primitive skills artist Urban Scout. Classes run from 12pm-4pm. Each class costs $25 dollars. Students must be at least 14 to attend unless attended with a parent. The Sunday school works great for people with busy schedules. Classes are set at an introductory level for those with little survival skills. Scout limits the number of students to 10 per class. Despite it’s name, it has no religious ties, though Scout has been known to get a little preachy about the unsustainability of civilization sometimes!
Anatomy of Collapse
(By special request only)
Spend a few hours with Scout discussing the workings of civilization, from agriculture to population growth dynamics to hierarchy and warfare to how it will go down and what you can do to join in the rewilding renaissance.

Visit Urban Scout's Blog to learn more about this hunter-gatherer wannabe. Urban Scout has a deep ancestral relationship with this land; his great, great grandfather lies buried in N.E. Portland. He proudly dropped out of high school at 16 to begin his life-long unschooled journey of rewilding. He manages a non-profit, www.mythmedia.org, that he founded at 19 years old, keeps a popular blog (www.urbanscout.org) about rewilding and created a popular international internet forum and wiki for fellow people-who-rewild (www.rewild.info). Locally, Urban Scout has been an environmental educator with CascadiaWild, Friends of Tryon Creek, Audubon Society and TrackersNW. He has received both local press in the The Oregonian, Portland Mercury, Willamette Week and national press in ReadyMade Magazine. |
