Survival! To us this word means connection to the land. It means that all your needs, and the needs of your village can be met and cared for by simply listening to and tending to the natural world. Survival is not about the People of Cascadia taking everything "right now," it is about us living by a harvest and design that takes the health of future generations into account. Survival is the new story and vision of sustainability The Wilderness Survival Guild takes you through a series of skills that are the human birthright. Knowing that "common sense is no longer common" You have a conversation with our land about how we live. Through the story learned, we invest in a relationship of family, one where all life is dependent on one another for survival. This is the art of building your shelter with your own two hands, crafting your baskets from willows you tend to every year, asking the trees for fire (even with no matches) and revealing and caring for the water the we all drink to live. This is the art of “keeping it living.".
Spend a weekend learning about and practicing nearly every primitive skill you can think of. The goal of the course is to give you a solid foundation in the world of primitive skills. We want you to be able to walk away confident in starting your own projects, able to move onto more advanced skills and achieve a real sense of craftsmanship.

Make more than your bow. Take part in the complete series of making a full set of hunting tools out of wood, stone, and animal parts. In this bowmaking class we will focus more on vine-maple bows that can be used for hunting or shooting.
Over the course of 3 days we will go over the complete process of creating these ancient but effective hunting tools that were cherished and idolized for centuries. When you leave the class you will have the skills to walk into the woods and provide food for yourself using only what is around you.

Playing in the woods isn't just for kids. The only difference when you get older is the complexity and depth at which you play. Take a weekend out into the woods and learn primitive skills and stealth games that build on those skills. The fastest way to learn is to have fun while doing it, so come on out and throw some spears!
